dc.description.abstractThis study’s key objective was examining the impact of scientific personnel selection onthe performance of employeesat Kenya Ports Authority. The study specifically sought to determine the effect of strategic recruitment which are: Cognitive ability, Personnel dimensions and psychometric ability on staff performance at Kenya Ports Authority.The study was carried out at Kenya PortsAuthority where 144 senior managers signified the units of analysis for this research. Quantitative research design was used in this research. A descriptive survey was particularly used to target a population from typical sample. The study then employed structured questionnaires to collect the required data. A Likert scale was incoperated in the questionnaire to scale the quantitative data collected. The sampling technique used was stratified where the population was subdivided into sub groups. A pilot study was carried out on 26 respondents. Various techniques wereemployed to summarize the data. Such techniques include multivariate and bivariate analysis, and descriptive statistics. The data was analyzed using inferential and descriptive statistics like regression and correlation statistics, standard deviation and mean presented through tables. The analysis of the quantitative data was done with the help of the SPSS software. According to the research findings there is a high significance (p-value= 0.000) in the correlation between employee performance and personality dimensions, psychomotor and cognitive ability. The regression results indicated that the scientific personnel selection practices explained 17% variation in the employee performance. The study recommends that KPA should adhere to scientific personnel selection practices when recruiting and filling up vacant positions.en_US
